Use this letter template to send to school when you are unhappy with the current interventions put in place at school for your child. Perhaps your child is anxious?  Perhaps your child isn't accessing full time education?  Perhaps your child is not progressing as you feel they should be? 

Use this letter template when you are ready to de register your child from school and home educate.  Send this letter to the headteacher and request a receipt for your letter.  

Use this template letter when you feel reasonable adjustments need to be put in place to support your child's masking behaviours at school. 

Masking is when a behaviour or coping strategy is put in place to hide their true thoughts or feelings related to their mental health.  It can have huge consequences if not understood.

When your child is placed on the SEN register at school you should then receive an IEP (Independent Education Plan) or (My Plan).  This should identify what your child's needs are and what interventions are in place to support them.  In some cases schools do not provide these and this letter will help address this.

If your child has an eating disorder such as ARFID (Avoidance and Restrictive Eating Disorder) or an Autism related eating disorder due to sensory processing disorder, you will know how hard lunchtimes at school are for them.  You may feel the school need to place reasonable adjustments to support food intake needs.  This template letter will help address this and offers suggestions for reasonable adjustments. 

If your child's attendance is low due to mental health difficulties and the school are placing pressure on you for full attendance or unauthorizing mental health absences you can use this template letter, initially, to open up communication about this issue.
