This is NOT a parenting course because you are already an AWESOME parent. I already know and understand the amount of love, patience, flexibility, empathy and care you direct towards your child/children. This is a course aimed at supporting you on your journey. A course that covers a lot of topics that many SEND parents feel unheard about or feel parental stigma when addressing. This 6 week course unpacks all of it (without any parental blame or stigma). This is a safe space. Why meltdowns happen. Meltdowns & Behaviour. What is your child communicating? Looking at the world through your child's perspective/ Supporting Sensory Needs. Unpicking challenges/ Understanding behaviour. Violence in the home. Meltdown safety within the home environment and with siblings. PDA friendly phrases to use with our children and when. Non negotiable rules and compromise. Adjusting Mindset. Taking Back control. Parental emotional regulation and well-being. PANDA approach (low demand PDA approaches). Child CBT anxiety methods to trial. Sleep difficulties / REALISTIC PDA friendly bedtime routines Making a child's world smaller and layering back in. Accepting a new normal and adjusting your expectations. Creating your child's care plan. The sessions are pre recorded so you can access them whenever you have time to. There are 6 videos, aimed at giving you one session a week, over six weeks. You'll have access to this course for 8 weeks so if you miss a week (or life becomes busy) that's okay! take it at your own pace. You may wish to bring with you pen and paper, to make any notes of any things you may find useful. A bare minimum is that every time you sit and watch a session you must have a hot drink and a treat for you too! Us SEND parents rarely get time to treat ourselves, so multi task and do both at the same time! The topics covered will suit parents of children with ASD/ADHD/PDA/OCD/EBSA and is aimed at families with children aged 12 years old and under.
